SOFT CURVE HOUSE

Burlingame, CA

Nestled into the wooded Burlingame Hills, this ground-up residence was envisioned for a family of four seeking a serene, deeply personal home. Natalia Lerman Design shaped every interior element—from custom cabinetry to designer lighting and curated art. Clean lines are softened by natural wood and limestone, complemented by handcrafted ceramics from European and Californian artists, creating a distinctly warm, tailored atmosphere.

The entry welcomes you with a thoughtful composition: a built-in bench with hidden shoe storage, drawers for daily essentials, and a tall mirror that discreetly conceals the HVAC system. Gentle curves flow into the open living room, where custom millwork frames a small niche for a lamp. Overhead, a curved ceiling continues the home’s rhythm while integrating ventilation. The living room cabinetry was tailored to the clients’ needs—two long floating cabinets with side shelving that maintain the same sculptural aesthetic.

At the heart of the home, a curving kitchen island invites both cooking and gathering. Designed for a family who loves to entertain, the kitchen balances beauty and function: a concealed pantry, integrated bar with sink and shelving, and a tea nook with an appliance garage are all seamlessly woven in. Open shelves display meaningful objects, while hidden zones keep the space serene and adaptable. The result is a light-filled home that embodies modern simplicity and effortless comfort.
